About Maskull’s

Ahh…to be a kid again. Such a time of innocence, and such a time of wonder.

And such a time of being scared to death of the monsters on TV. Watching channel 26 here in New Orleans every Saturday held the macabre fun of Morgus the Magnificent and whatever b-grade horror movie was on that day.

I was fascinated by monsters such as the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Wolfman.

The cheap ads in the back of comic books for monster masks, giant snakes, and realistic floating ghosts certainly motivated me to save my money and Order Now! (”But ma, it really floats! It would be so cool! Pleeeease?“)

At the Gold Mine Records, Comics, and Cards on Magazine Street in New Orleans, I would dig through the numerous dusty boxes - searching for the old issues of Eerie, Creepy, Weird…and any other horror magazines with cool covers. (I found an original Haunt of Fear once, and snatched it up…it only cost me $8. Then I sold it to another collector like a fool. I wish I had it today!)

There are so many things I wish I could go back to. Those were the good ol’ days in a lot of ways. But I decided something: even if I have to be grown-up, I can still have fun with the same stuff I loved as a kid.

So I bring you Maskull’s. I hope to remind you of your own childhood, and conjure up some nostaligia. Enjoy.
